How do I close my account?
1. First, if you have existing funds in your balance, you’ll need to cash these out before you can close your account. For help with cashing out, see How do I get paid on Prolific?
If your balance is below the minimum cash out requirement (£6.00 or $6.00) and you’re unable to cash out before closure as a result, please reach out to support via the button at the bottom of this article.
✋ Before closing your account, we recommend waiting until all of your pending studies have been reviewed, as any remaining balance will be lost once the account is closed.
2. Once your ready, log in, click on your profile icon at the top right of your Prolific page, and then click ‘Account’
3. Scroll to the bottom of your Account page where you’ll see the option to close your account. Click the ‘close’ button to the right

💡 Please note: When you close your account, your relationship with Prolific will come to an end, and you’ll no longer be able to access your account.
We’ll automatically delete most of your personal data 14 months after your account has been closed. However, if you’d like us to delete your data sooner, please contact our Support team via the link at the bottom of this article with the subject ‘Data deletion request’.

Will my account be closed if it is inactive?
After six months of account inactivity, you'll receive an email notification warning that your account will be closed. A reminder will be sent at the 12-month mark, and if you don't log in within 14 months of inactivity, your account will be permanently closed and your data deleted. To keep your account active, you'll need to log in within eight months of receiving the initial warning email.
Can I re-join after my account is closed or I delete my data?
No — once your account is closed or your data is deleted, this action is final and we cannot reinstate your account.
While you may join the waitlist again, we cannot guarantee you'll be offered a place.
