To cash out, you’ll need to add both your PayPal account and your residential address to your Prolific account.
Why do I need to add my address?
We need your address to verify or re-verify your payment method for cashing out. This information is required for standard anti-money laundering checks.

How do I add my address?
- Go to "My account" by clicking the profile icon in the top right corner, then select "Account" from the dropdown menu
- Under the "Your Details" section, locate "Residential address" and click the edit button next to it
- Select your country of residence. This must be your current country of residence
- Enter your complete address details, writing everything in full without abbreviations
- Click "Update address" to complete the process. Your payment details will then be verified
The address you add to your Prolific account should match the address registered on your PayPal account

Does the address on my profile have to match the address on my ID?
No, they can be separate addresses.
I'm experiencing issues entering my address (US)
If you're having issues adding your address in the United States, make sure to write your state name in full - for example, "South Carolina" instead of "SC."
Due to technical limitations, all address details must be written out completely without any abbreviations.
Is this a tax requirement?
No, this information isn’t being requested as a tax reporting requirement.
I frequently move between countries, which address should I use?
Your address details must match your current country of residence. If you move countries, you'll need to update your details accordingly. You won't be able to cash out if you're in a country different from the one listed in your profile.
